Explain the original source
Savings from income, a property sale, inheritance, a gift and business distributions require different evidence. A recent transfer proves movement, not necessarily origin. Your lender and solicitor may have separate requirements.
Keep the chain complete
Keep statements for accounts the funds move through and documents supporting the underlying transaction. Explain large credits and currency conversions. Where a gift is involved, the donor’s evidence and declaration may be needed.
Agree certification and translation
Check requirements before paying for translations or certified copies. Documents should be complete and unaltered. Name variations, different calendars or address formats should be explained with appropriate supporting evidence.
Allow for currency and timing
Conversion charges, exchange-rate changes and transfer limits can affect the sterling deposit available. Agree completion instructions securely with the solicitor and independently verify any change of bank details. Never rely solely on an unexpected email.
Keep the initial enquiry minimal
You can discuss the approximate amount, country and source without sending full account statements through a website. Detailed evidence should follow through an agreed secure route.
