Mortgages for professional golfers

Tour earnings, sponsorship and coaching can create a varied income picture. I help professional golfers prepare that picture for a UK home or investment enquiry.

Give each source of earnings its own evidence

Tournament receipts may arrive unevenly, while sponsorship or coaching follows another timetable. We discuss the trading structure, accounts, current agreements and expenses before considering a lender route. International tours can also raise residence and foreign-currency questions. A projection based on future tournament success is not a substitute for an evidenced income history.

Include the business around the sport

If coaching, a club role or a separate company contributes income, show its contracts and financial records. We need to distinguish business turnover, retained funds and money available to you personally.

How I approach the case

We begin with what you want to achieve, your timescale and any part of the case that needs explaining. I review the evidence and suitable lender routes, then explain the available options and their costs. A recommendation follows the individual assessment; an initial conversation does not commit you to an application.

Where legal, tax or other specialist advice is needed, we identify it early so the finance fits the wider transaction. Tell me about any change in employment, borrowing, deposit or property details before proceeding.

What to prepare

  • Tour earnings and payment history
  • Sponsorship and coaching agreements
  • Accounts, tax records and trading structure
  • Overseas residence or currency information
  • Deposit source and ongoing business costs

You do not need every document before saying hello. Start with a short outline; detailed or sensitive records should follow through an agreed secure route.

Before you proceed

Income acceptance, borrowing amount and term depend on the lender’s individual assessment. Future playing contracts or sporting earnings are not guaranteed. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments.

Your questions, answered

Can sponsorship and coaching be assessed together?

They can be reviewed within the same enquiry, but each source needs a clear history and supporting agreements.

Can you help with a home that includes land?

Yes, we can discuss the finance. Acreage, outbuildings, property use and the valuation still need individual lender assessment.

Preparation guide reviewed 11 September 2026. General information; individual lender assessment is required. Further reading: MoneyHelper: buying a home and mortgages.

Your next step

Let’s talk about your plans.

Start with mortgages for professional golfers. Tell me what you want to achieve and when; we can work out what needs a closer look.

A useful starting point: tour earnings and payment history; sponsorship and coaching agreements; accounts, tax records and trading structure.
