Your illustration—

What this illustration assumes

LTV = mortgage ÷ property value × 100. The lender may use a different valuation. Buying, selling and redemption costs are excluded.

Calculated on your device. The figures you enter are not sent to Jack. A lender or insurer may calculate costs differently.

Understand the figures

How loan-to-value and deposit fit together

Loan-to-value is the loan divided by the property value, expressed as a percentage. For example, a £300,000 mortgage against a £400,000 property gives 75% LTV and £100,000 of deposit or equity before costs.

Use the value relevant to your transaction and distinguish cash deposit from purchase costs. A lender valuation or a fee added to borrowing can change the figures used in an actual application.
