Start with the gap in your UK team
You may already have a solicitor, an accountant, a property contact or a contractor. List what each is doing and where coordination is missing. Jack can discuss an agreed UK point-of-contact role: following up actions, preparing meeting agendas and bringing progress into one report. This is particularly useful where the client is in Qatar and several UK counterparties need a consistent instruction.
Define an investment or business enquiry
State whether the objective is a property purchase, an operating business, market research or oversight of an existing project. For a Qatar business, include its legal name and current registration information, ownership and authorised representative. Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry publishes business-service routes; any local records should be checked through the appropriate official process. UK providers will specify their own verification requirements.
Report decisions, not just activity
Agree which milestones matter: receiving a professional report, selecting a contractor, confirming a funding route or making a go/no-go decision. A good update identifies missing evidence, the consequence of a delay and the person responsible for the next action. Keep facts supplied by professionals distinct from assumptions and estimates. Ask who is checking the underlying information rather than treating a summary as independent due diligence.
Keep a property project fundable
For a purchase, clarify occupancy, borrowing, ownership and available equity. For works, add the scope, programme and cost plan. A plan to refinance needs its own evidence rather than a statement that a mortgage will be arranged later. The Qatar mortgage guide, GCC bridging guide and overseas development guide provide separate preparation routes according to the transaction.
Keep control of the appointment
Agree fees, reporting frequency and authority limits before work begins. Specify whether introductions are the end of the brief or whether coordination continues afterwards. Independent advisers issue their own terms and findings. Changes to the objective, budget or parties should trigger a scope review, particularly when a straightforward purchase develops into a refurbishment or business operation.
